The aim of this guide is to raise awareness of the problem of alien species linked to freshwater and estuarine ecosystems and, at the same time, to involve the public in the fight against this problem by raising awareness through information. It presents the 100 most significant exotic species present in the Iberian Peninsula, selected for their impact on other populations and species, on ecosystems and habitats, for their socio-economic impact, but also for their “media impact” or for being interesting and didactic cases of this serious problem.
