Invasive Alien Species (IAS), which has seen a rapid increase in their introduction and expansion in recent decades, constitute a major threat to biodiversity conservation, generate important socioeconomic problems and can also have an impact on human health.
In Spain and Portugal, where governments are increasing efforts to reduce the impact of IAS, it is essential that society is aware of these environmental and socioeconomic problems to increase the effectiveness of actions to manage and prevent their introduction into the natural environment.
